Information for artists interested in displaying their work

PortalWisconsin.org accepts submissions from Wisconsin artists who are interested in displaying their work in our online gallery. There is no specific deadline; we accept applications on an ongoing basis. There is no fee to apply.
This gallery is a juried space devoted to contemporary artists living in Wisconsin. Artists who reside in Wisconsin only part of the year are also eligible, as long as they can provide a Wisconsin address. Artists submitting work should not be current students in the visual arts. Artists must include recent work in their application materials (at least three or four pieces done in the last three to five years). Between five and ten images total should be submitted. Please note that due to the volume of submissions we may receive and the time needed for the jurying process, artists whose work is accepted should not expect to see their work on PortalWisconsin.org right away. Artists will be notified by e-mail or postal mail whether or not their work has been accepted to the gallery.
Artists may list their contact information in the gallery, allowing users of our site to get in touch with them. However, PortalWisconsin.org does not sell art, nor does it facilitate sales between artists and buyers.
Artists who wish to submit work must provide images of their artwork as either 35mm slides or digital images. Details about what types of digital files may be sent are contained on the application form.

How to submit your artwork to PortalWisconsin.org
Please follow this two-step process:
1. Fill out the online portion of the application. You'll be asked for some personal information, along with a brief biographical statement and artist's statement (please do not exceed the word limits for these sections). Although we collect a variety of personal information in case we need to contact you, you can control how much of this information is displayed to the public if your work is included in the gallery.
2. Send images of your artwork to Portal Wisconsin. You can send 35mm slides or digital images.
Your slides or digital images must be accompanied by a form that tells us what each image is. The form also contains important information about digital image requirements. You can print out the form here. Complete instructions are on the form itself. Once you fill it out, mail it with your images to:

Please note: applications to Portal Wisconsin's online gallery are submitted to the jury every 10-12 weeks (approximately four times per year). We will notify you whether or not your application has been accepted, but expect the process to take time.
