Africa in Latin American Cinema (Online)
Prerequisite: Knowledge of Spanish language a plus. The African presence and influence in Latin America are unacknowledged as the region constructs an incomplete narrative of its culture as Spanish and indigenous people. In Cuba and Brazil this African presence is most dominant in music, religion, politics, economics, war and the arts. Explore the myth of the African absence by examining African influences in the cinema produced in Latin America. Open enrollment--register any time.
