I've always enjoyed exploring a variety of techniques in my claywork. My pieces are formed on a potter's wheel or by other handforming methods and fired in a gas kiln. I am currently experimenting with adding small amounts of sodium and wood in the latter part of the firing to influence the molten glazes and raw clay surfaces. My husband is a blacksmith, and we often like to collaborate on pieces. The kiln offers surprises that often lead in new directions, and the amazing earth processes provide endless inspirations.
I established my studio and gallery in Silver Creek, Wis., in 1978. Silver Creek Pottery and Forge is our working studio and gallery, where visitors are always welcome.
