"Bonnie's Rock Garden," an acrylic painting by Wisconsin artist Hugh Mandelert, appears on the Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission's 2003 art poster. The new edition, featuring a backyard bursting into full bloom, is the 24th poster in an annual series produced by the commission.
Fifteen thousand copies of the poster, generously supported by Alliant Energy, are available without charge at the Cultural Affairs Office, Room 421 of the City-County Building, 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Madison. Weekday office hours are 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; the office's phone number is 608-266-5915.
Although posters cannot be mailed out, distribution sites for the free posters also include thirty-nine village, town and city halls throughout Dane County. A detail from "Bonnie's Rock Garden" has been reproduced on thousands of free bookmarks, available at Dane County community libraries.
The poster series was initiated in 1979 to bring quality artwork into public spaces throughout Dane County. It has become a popular community tradition and a signature product of the Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission. For more information, e-mail the commission at cultural.affairs@co.dane.wi.us.
