Artist statement
I began my artistic life by constructing willow baskets, then building assemblage boxes and finally designing handbags. I like to make things that hold "stuff." My mother, Helen, taught me how to sew at age five. I love combining color and texture along with interesting shapes and pattern making. All handbags start in my sketch book, then I draft a pattern, find great fabric and sew the pieces together. I love hand stitching and fashion subtle details using beads, buttons, lining and fabulous notions. I work in my home studio. I love what I do and inventing objects people admire and use.
