Artist statement
The artworks that I submitted to PortalWisconsin.org were chosen to represent a visual path I took after I left the advertising art field. I desired much more depth for my works. I love to illustrate. The time I felt I needed to visualize what I saw for my subject was taking more and more time to complete. Different Drummer, indeed.
Biography
An artist in mid-career chooses to feel his own intuition to grow. To learn what he didn't when life turned his eyes away. Briefly, I was born in San Antonio,Texas. Watched my father draw, paint and use any media, when I was very young. Discovered I had it inside of me too, wondering how far back does this run? My first steady paying work was in Cincinnati, Ohio, with Campbell Art Studio. I created a Star Wars game board for Kenner Toys and projects for quite a number of National clientele. I illustrated Laurie Tells for Carolrhoda. I also illustrated nature paths for Wehr Nature Center here in Wisconsin. Taught children in after-school programs with 'Promising Picassos.' I currently teach art programs in Sussex, Wisconsin. I also continue to paint.
