Artist statement
When a culture looses its ability to imagine, to think that which was unthinkable, it loses its sense of the future and of what could be. The unthinkable, the unimaginable exists in the moment and is profound and full of movement. As an artist I want to create work that probes the boundaries of what others have not thought. I want to probe the unimaginable. I want my art to stand on its own when I am finished. It can stand on its own when others look at it--they ask questions and they in turn begin to imagine the unimaginable. It is an unending notion of process, an unending notion of movement, that always is emerging.
I paint abstractly because of my desire to pass on the notion of that there are still things out there which need to be created, which need to be thought, which need to be imagined, and which in turn allow the notion of the creative and the creator to remain ungoverned, raw and fresh.
