Artist statement
I am a fiber artist weaving exquisite, well-crafted textiles and fabrics. Specialties are handwoven outerwear from fabrics fashioned on the loom and rich textural, colored one-offs for the home. I work with fibers such as silk and Tencel, linen and wool, native grasses and straw. I am not afraid to mix it up--I will put wool with any fiber and throw it into the wash and standby to see what fascinating textures emerge. Inspiration can come from nature, city streets, other artworks and artists, colors floating around in my imagination and in my studio.
My education has been the school of experiment, experience and the mentoring of amazing textile artists I have known, met or read about that have sparked my enthusiasm and fostered my journey in this craft.
I am a member of an art gallery cooperative in the Wisconsin town I live in. Working with artists members in the gallery cooperative has been truly inspiring.
Biography
I live and work on 80 acres outside of Viroqua, Wis. Our home and my studio are solar powered, we run by the sun. We love wildlife and to that end we have planted restored nurtured native vegetation on our land.
