Artist statement
Since I came to America in 2004 I changed totally to a landscape painter. It's not about the big panorama but the intimate corner of a wild forest. In 2008 I discovered a book about painted targets and started painting on circular canvasses. The target structure of a center and surrounding circles is a good equivalent to the organic forms of nature.Additionally it gives me more freedom to play with the colors and chiaroscuro. Besides painting I work also with etching and woodcut. My print work is often more narrative oriented.
Biography
Born 1941 in Leipzig/Germany. Grown up at the Baltic Sea. Stusy at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart.Earning my life as a teacher of art I developed my own body of art and exhibited mainly in Germany and Denmark. In 2004 I followed my wife, an American citizen, to Milwaukee and got permanent residence. I'm member of WVA.
