Artist statement
My challenge as an artist is to capture the essence of a subject. It may involve the light, the form, the colors, a person's being. Painting is meditation for me; it is a means of self-expression. My goal is the integration between the observed outer reality and the inner self. I want my role as artist to be one of truth telling, of bringing forth the light and the shadow with humor and hope.
