Artist statement
My work focuses my experiences from studying abroad in Germany last year and travelling and observing various elements and environments found in cities worldwide. With an emphasis on the unique methods of transportation compared to what we find in the U.S. , I am interested in translating my travel experiences onto the canvas in order to experience and remember them in a fresh way. I enjoy creating these refreshed images by activating and forming spaces through the use of loose and energetic strokes of intense, non-representational color.
Biography
Caroline Walser was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin. She graduated from the Peck School of the Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2015 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting and a German Minor. She creates acrylic paintings and charcoal drawings currently focused on the theme of travel and city life, largely inspired by her experiences from studying abroad in Germany and traveling throughout Europe.
