Artist statement
Whether symbolic or abstract, Stacie Chappell's multi-media paintings reflect imagery from nature, science and the metaphysical.
The artist uses a number of processes in order to complete a work. Most are driven through sensory experiences such as intuition, visualization, the physical handling of multi-media and technology.
It is through these processes a visual language develops; often through the combination of random doodle drawings and forms from nature that are printed, painted and collaged to canvas.
Her color palette is minimal yet vibrant from the use of acrylic paint and transparent paper, while line and gesture suggest energy and movement throughout the composition. Most of her paintings have a grid-like patterning, similar to a cosmic quilt that plays with the viewer's perception of pictorial space.
