Artist statement
Art is not just a single aspect of my life; it is a living, growing thing. I find that all of life is reflected in and related to my art.
Biography
I earned a degree in art at the UW-Madison and have continued to develop my art through evening classes and workshops.
My career has ranged from detailed botanical illustrations and paintings to lazy pastoral landscapes and still-lifes. More recently, my work consists of multi-layered watercolor abstracts. These layers of color create intensity and allow for the illusion of depth. I find abstract work very challenging and rewarding. Along with watercolors, I work with graphite, pastel or ink with brush or pen and sometimes combine these mediums to intensify the effect that I am striving to create.
I'm currently a member of Wisconsin Painters & Sculptors, Madison Arts Alliance, Brushwork 5 and Second Saturday Artists Workshop.
I have illustrations in 2 publications.
