Artist statement
I design and build contemporary steel furniture. Production numbers are limited and each piece is numbered. I started designing home theater component stands that are structurally superior and more beautiful than the mass-produced tin you find at the box stores. My background is industrial and my designs are minimal and aesthetically pleasing in most environments.
Steel structures are typically powdercoated or finished with multistage automotive paint. Stainless steel is finished in a low gloss unless requested otherwise. I feel a high color polish on stainless with multiple facets is not conducive to a friendly living space. Welds are mig or tig with no tack welds. Shelves are glass or polycarbonate standard. Wood or granite can be substituted in some cases. Seating surfaces can be specifically requested for color and texture; my standard practice is to use high-grade leather. All pieces shown here are on display in Milwaukee's Third Ward.
Biography
I've been involved in design, engineering and construction in a wide range of fields. Working in the logging industry in my teens,I then learned the cabinet-making trade. I also worked as an ironworker for many years (many being a relative term). Recently I've been involved with a couple of racing organizations, and built process equipment for the plastics industry. I have since founded Fuzion Furniture, which is the conduit for my expression.
