Artist statement
Encouraged to be creative as a young child by teachers and a talented mother, I was motivated to pursue my artistic career. I have always been intrigued by the process of creating and amazed by the outcome. Recently, I have devoted my time and energy to watercolor painting. What fascinates me most about the medium is its subtlety, immediacy of results, endless possibilities, and variations that can be achieved. In each of my paintings, I try to find the beauty in the subject matter whether it is a withered fallen leaf or elegant rose. When I arrange still lifes, I choose attractive or captivating objects and materials. I always look for unusual perspectives to keep my work interesting and original. In my paintings of nature and still lifes, I strive to achieve a convincing portrayal of subject matter to immortalize the image through dramatic use of color, shadow and form. My objective is to convincingly capture volume, texture and color to tell a story or remind the viewer of life's beauty and human presence.
I have exhibited in galleries and art fairs throughout the United States receiving numerous awards in local and international competitions.
