Artist statement
A documentation of my experience, my art is a visual extension of myself. I am interested in the relationship between my personal experience and the experiences of others. I have begun visually collecting and documenting images (personal photographs, newspaper images and found objects). These investigations have come to form visually and conceptually through painting, photography, video, installation and sculpture. In my work I combine many mediums to form a single idea. It is in the form of a metaphor that I ask the viewer to understand my work’s symbolic reference. Within this idea of metaphor, I visually offer language. My work is borderline comical and difficult. Most importantly my work is personal and raw.
Biography
Education: BFA, University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point; MFA, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
I am a Wisconsin native who has shown both internationally and nationally. I recently returned to Wisconsin as faculty at Silver Lake College of the Holy Family in Manitowoc.
