Artist statement
Since 2000, I have devoted all my energies to developing my art. I have returned to my first love, oil painting. I have been called a "Colorist." I paint with vibrant, bold colors and with meticulous detail. With each painting, I express a certain mood or feeling that is conveyed through nature. I paint from life and photographs, which allows me to get the most detail and to push the colors found in nature My current oil painting series is "Nature into Flight," including perennials, native plants, butterflies, birds and more. My inspiration is my garden, with which I am constantly interacting. I am also adding paintings to my previous "Aquatic" series, encompassing a waterscape I created in my backyard.

I enjoy being a full-time artist, photographer, computer graphic designer and gardener. I have participated in several juried Fine Art and Photographic Exhibitions. A member of the Oil Painters of America, National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society, League of Milwaukee Artists, the Wisconsin Visual Artist and Federated Garden Club has kept my focus. I am proud to have received 2nd place in National Art Exhibition in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Biography
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1974 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education, with an emphasis in Oil Painting and Photography. In 2001, I completed my Master’s Degree at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee in Art Education, with an emphasis in Computer Graphics. In 2004 and 2005, I enhanced my photography background with professional photography classes at Milwaukee Area Technical College.
