Artist statement
I am a self-taught photographer who has been fortunate enough to live, work and travel over much of the world. I am constantly in awe of the colors, patterns, designs and beauty found in the natural world. In many instances, the contributions of man reflect and enhance the forms found in nature. Photography is a means for me to capture those special moments, experiences, forms and locations, to recall for myself and share with others.
Biography
My photography experience started about 45 years ago as a photographer for my high school newspaper and yearbook from 1962 to 1964. It virtually ceased until I went overseas to the Orient in 1972, where I delved into the realm of travel photography. I worked primarily with slides for approximately six years until I moved to Europe, where I gradually switched to 35mm film. Raising a family and pursuing a graduate degree resulted in much less time behind the lens until a working colleague in Italy rekindled my interest in the early '90s. I moved back to the United States in 2004 and became involved in digital photography. Having recently retired and returned to Wisconsin, photography is taking up more and more time. I am now getting the opportunity view the state of my boyhood through the lens of my camera.
