Artist statement
True art comes from within your heart. In photography this is especially true. One can have all of the necessary technical skills to operate a camera (conventional or digital) but not have the artistic skills that are needed to create a fine art photograph. I try to put the creative energy that I feel on film when I am about to take a photograph. I hope that the viewer of my work has similar emotions. I feel that a great photograph should be seen by the eye but felt by the heart.
My work has been sold and displayed in galleries, art shows, art expositions, business offices and stores. My work has won a variety of awards in art shows and competitions. I have combined my love of the outdoors and photography into an extensive collection of photographs for all to enjoy.
Biography
Terry O'Neill began in photography approximately 35 years ago. His interest grew steadily as he was encouraged by those who saw his work to share it with others. He enrolled in classes at Milwaukee Area Technical College, Milwaukee Center for Photography, and the University of Wisconsin to enhance his photography skills. He is also a member of COPA--Coalition of Photographic Arts--in Milwaukee.
O'Neills' "signature piece" is entitled "Downtown Milwaukee Fog." This piece took first place in the International Library of Photography competition in New York. It was also published in Shutterbug Magazine (July 2002).
