Artist statement
The Always Wired Bead Lady is my alter ego.
I started designing jewelry a few years ago, after initially being attracted to beads on a trip to Chicago for my birthday, when a glitzy red-beaded watch called my name from across the counter at Marshall Field's. My hubby bought the watch for me and it's been an addiction since then.
A gardener for many years, I work with my beads in the same way that I planned and planted my flower beds. Looking at the color, feeling the shape of the stones and examining the pattern in beads and stones, I work with an ever-growing selection of sterling wire, copper wire, Swarovski crystals, gemstones and U.S. artisan lampwork.
I am a self-representing artist and belong to the 14 South Artists of South Central Wisconsin and the International Jewelry Designer's Guild.
If you have any questions about my artisan jewelry, please ask!
Biography
I started learning about beads and beading at a local bead store. In 2006, I took a series of classes from Sharilyn Miller of California and, in 2007, took a series of classes with Wendy Witchner of Alaska and California. Both are well-known in the artisan jewelry world. My next classes will be lampworking/beadmaking.
I also study and am influenced by Eni Oken, Karen Hardy, Connie Fox and others in the world of artisan jewelry.
