Kitchen Manager
Position Term: 1 June 2023 to 15 August 2022; additional hours as needed
Position Salary: $14.50 per hour (10 to 40 hours per week)
Position Description:
The Kitchen Manager is an employee of the Shell Lake Arts Center and reports to the Executive Director. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the cafeteria to prepare and serve food and beverages to campers, staff, and faculty members. They direct the other kitchen staff to ensure that stakeholders are satisfied with their dining experience, and they manage the business to ensure that it is cost neutral.

Management
The Kitchen Manager will
Assist that Executive Director in Hiring Summer Seasonal Staff.
Create a weekly work schedule for kitchen staff.
Oversee food service employees in the kitchen to insure compliance with all policies, procedures and protocols of the Shell lake Arts Center and the Wisconsin Department of Public Health
Order perishable and non-perishable food
Maintain an inventory of necessary supplies
Prepare weekly menus which meet dietary standards as established by the USDA and FDA
Maintain compliance to safety standards as required by the Wisconsin Department of Public Health
Directs work tasks for the kitchen staff.
Approves submitted timesheets for all food service employees.
Evaluate all seasonal food service employees
Food Preparation
The Kitchen Manager will
Prepare meals daily during the summer camp season
Set up the serving area with assistance as appropriate
Clean work, serving, and storage areas with assistance as appropriate
Prepare food for events taking place at the SLAC in summer and winter months
Qualifications:
The Kitchen manager will:
hold valid WI certificate stating that the individual has passed a department-approved written examination on food protection practices.
possess strong communication and management skills
possess the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of employees, campers, and faculty.
be dependable, self-motivated with an emphasis on teamwork.
Knowledge of cleanliness and proper handling of food products
Knowledge of large quantity cooking
